Any recommendations?

My current card services provider has peed me if with their snide tactics trying to sneakily add on an additional monthly charge for a service I didn’t ask for and don’t use and have no intention of using

I only spotted it in what looked like a boring unwanted email advertising an additional service - bored out of my brain sitting on a delayed flight I read the email. Spotted they were intending to charge customers an additional fee for a Portal Service - no options to opt in or opt out - basically hidden in the text of the email they advise they are charging you for this month and it will show on your next bill.

After 30 mins hanging on the phone and heated discussion with their shambolic customer (dis)Services I have told them to poke it where the sun doesn’t shine!

Need another provider - any suggestions/recommendations?

👍

Yep!

Sneakily done by them.

I have told them I’m not paying it and voting with my feet and going elsewhere A’s I’ve had enough of them.

Sneaky additional charges here there and everywhere

WorldPay
Stripe
Square
PayPal

PayPal customer service isn't great for merchants, balanced by the massive user base.

I spoke to WP yesterday - in fact the person I spoke to as the most helpful I have ever spoken to there. I said i dont want the service, do not want to pay for it and also had not consented to it. She assures me that I dont have to pay. Whilst there are others providers I find it fustrating changing these kinds of 'deals' and so am happy to remain with WP so long as they don't wste my time.

Worldpay is the most shambolic shower of shysters in the whole world ever.
Apart from that, they're cheap.

I tend to use Stripe and/or PayPal depending on the product and target market. I'd usually default the checkout option to Stripe (but call it Credit/Debit Card) and allow customers to choose PayPal if they want to.

Stripe charge 1.4%+20p, PayPal charge 3.4%+20p. I'm sure you can negotiate better rates with both if you have higher volumes than I do.

Stripe are miles ahead of the competition on a technical level.

I have another client who uses HandePay and they get very good rates.

Just had great support from Square with a problem on my first big transaction.

I would actually call it exceptional, my support agent was attentive, understanding and proactive in solving and even made a suggestion to improve the outcome.

We’ve used Sagepay and Cardnet for 11 years now, rightly or wrongly. I think Cardnet is reasonably competitive as far as I can judge.

We put about £1M a year through them.
