Yep damage to the rear quarter panel will most times automatically write off anything worth under £5k.

Do you have any idea how much repairs would cost for it?

more than the car is worth. Is this a 1 vehicle accident where you're at fault? If so, I'd proabably batter it out a bit so it's semi straight, and replace the door with a second hand one. I'd also want to cover any exposed metal to prevent rust setting in.
The insurance company pinned the fault on the 3rd party, the guy basically rammed into me from a side road.

Or buy it back and do what "bluezedd" said.

How does that work roughly- how does the insurance co value it. And am guessing they release the car to you and the balance of the write off cost?

Especially worth it if for example you put an aftermarket stereo system in that would otherwise go to the breaker?

Tell them you want to buy it back, they'll assess a value & take that off the likely pay out. I guess you've still got the car in which case no issues. They'll possibly want a fresh MOT on it after its been written off to show its road worthy.

Sill, quarter panel, rear door, front door repair, paint for same, strip, refit, blend into front door, C-pillar...

Insurance repair using genuine parts and approved consumables

£2,800?
