Best value manual sports/GT currently?

What would you guys say is the best value for money sports/GT car currently on the market (either new or or used), that would offer a manual gearbox and which can do 0-60 in 4.5 or under for under £50k?
My brother wants something to come within a similar ball-park to my Audi R8 V10 - so of course I've mentioned that he should buy an early Audi R8 V10 manual. But he never listens to my opinion, ever.
I guess the only other options would be BMW M4/M2, 996/7 Turbo, or even the V8 Audi R8 ?
But out of the options on the market what would you guys be saying is the best value for money?
(He was thinking AM Vantage but I know a couple of friends who have had them and have been very glad to sell on - due to their high maintenance costs)
