VW Audi engine decisions?!

Just bored and thinking about cars- of course!

Why are VW sticking diesels in Audi S cars (except S3/ S8)...... but now TFSI engines in some SUVs? (Which I assume sell way more than Audi S cars)

If emissions across group are high- surely this strategy isn’t the best?!

I am bored....not necessarily but surely a diesel in an SUV is better? (If reducing emissions is their objective)

Diesels are still favoured by Audi and bmw because of co2 emissions and effectiveness of modern exhaust treatments (despite what the clueless government would have you believe).
