My car is a Corsa C 1.2 SXI twinport 2005.
A couple of days ago the oil light flashed once and went off. It has remained off since.
The pressure sensor is good, and when disconnected does not activate the light.
Can the light behind the dash be replaced or is there possibly a controlling fuse somewhere.
Any assistance/ideas would be appreciated Thanks steve67

Have you checked the oil level?

Could have done just been one of those things and came on erroneously or oil sloshed to one side or something. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again. I would check the oil level and make sure there are no leaks if all good then I wouldn't worry.

Hi, yes first thing to check and was still on the full mark.
I have looked all over the net for any info but I found nothing
of what powers the light, so may be a change of instrument panel
A bit vicious but to me the oil light is very important and if the
emc wakes up it might put me in limp mode unexpectedly and in a difficult
situation
Thanks anyway

Light can come on if oil level is at the low mark and you go round a bend really fast

I had a car that did this, only when cold and due an oil change.

Yes I know, but maybe my initial wording requires a mod.
The oil light doesn't ever come on. I switch on the ignition and I get all
the warning lights up, except the oil light and if I disconnect the oil pressure sensor
again no oil light.

so you probably have a faulty sensor or wiring.

And hopefully not early signs of impending engine failure.

Oil light only comes on if you earth the wire out , switches are common failure on all Vauxhall engines . I keep a few in stock as they are that bad for failing .

Thanks I will have another check on the sensor and wiring tomorrow. Sometimes I get a bit out of breath when it is warm and don't check things as properly as I should.

So it could be a faulty sender or wiring.

Most dash warning lights are led now so the chance of failing is very low ,my money is on the switch . Pull the wire off put a wire into the plug and earth it out , the light should come on if ignition is on .

Thanks.
After some sedate checking and using a functional multimeter
it seems like the sensor is the problem so I will be renewing it over the
weekend when it arrives.
Thanks to everyone for your assistance.
