Windscreen Washers.

Windscreen washers stopped working today and on investigation found pipe off the non return valve on the passenger side close to the coolant header tank. Put pipe back on OK and washers now working but spotted another pipe the same size coming through the bulkhead close to the wiper motor with a connector on the end but not connected to anything. What is this pipe for? Any help greatly appreciated thanks.

Could it be that yours was a prototype for a rear wash wipe, but they changed their minds ?

Thanks Russel, hopefully nothing to worry about then. One other thing, what does the silver knob with a picture of a fan on it on the drivers side underneath the dash close to the lever that adjusts the steering column.
