Hi all, I’m looking after a 2006 V8 Vantage and took it in for its MOT. Turns out that the off side front suspension coil is broken.

I’m on a budget and was surprised to hear that a replacement spring is £350 each- I will need 2 of course!

Any ideas on if there is a cheaper alternative? Is it the same spring on any other models -perhaps I can cast my internet search wider!

Advice or previous experience would be most appreciated!!

Thanks!

It's been discussed before but I think the conclusion is that you don't have many choices:

A real classic. Thanks @davek_964.

I’ve located the other threads -you’re right not much in terms of choices.

ive had front springs replaced by the main dealer at service time and although they advised it to be "best practice" to replace both they were fine with fitting one, ride height was exactly the same afterwards, my thoughts are that the springs on our cars are so stiff that that it doesnt make a huge difference, i would just do the one and see how it looks,

£350 seems like a good price, Aston Martin bits is £60 more expensive!

I had similar issues with my springs. Also 06 Vantage. Ended up going with these.

£685 for 4 springs. It was a dramatic improvement in ride quality. David Appleby said its the best value suspension mod you can make.

If it's any help I have 1 used, but in very good condition, front spring for $75. I also have 2 front and 2 rear H&R 2" lowering springs for $175 if you're interested. Not sure what the shipping costs from the USA would be. What ever it is I would just pass it along. Drop me a line if you would like to pursue further.

Just a word of warning. I had those on my V8 and whilst they improved the ride etc every speed bump, car ferry ramp, underground car park ramp became a problem to be negotiated - I wouldn't fit them again.

LordBretSinclair - is that your car for sale at £48k by Stratton Motor Co?

Lovely car - half tempted to see if they’ll do a deal with my DB9 but I did notice how low it looked...

Just a quick word of logic, do not replace springs singularly, replace as pairs, running a finely balanced high end sports car with miss-matched spring rates is madness.

100% Go with the DAE VelocityAP springs wink

Car is a lot better drive than stock and its not too low.

DONT get the H&R ones too hard too low
