With all this dry weather & owning a black car dust becomes quickly obvious. Can't keep washing due to time & increase risk of micro-scratching.
Years & years ago my dad used a Nenette to remove dust ( I still have the tin ) on badly worn bodywork of a Hillman Minx so scratching not an issue.
I see many adverts.for something called a 'Californian Duster' but don't believe the marketing cobblers.
What do professional detailers advise AND use themselves.

Unwilling to buy such a machine until seen evidence it works. Maybe my old vacuum machine can be switched to blower mode as a test?
Also need something manual & compact to carry in the car.

Raceglaze inline filter (or alternative supplier) that produces 0ppm water from the mains. Jet wash it off and leave it to air dry with absolutely no body contact needed and resulting in no residual spots or marks. I can do mine in literally five minutes.

Honestly, just live with it.

As Chris said, compressed air/blower would be your safest bet but it wont clear 100% of the dust.
Anything that your wiping over the car has a risk of micro marring so you're better off leaving it until the next wash.
There's a technique of rinsing the car and drying with a quick detailer, but you may as well wash.

I used an original Californian duster and it was very good. I didn't notice and scratching left to paintwork.

That is exactly the conclusion I had come to - a light spray with a hose then gentle drying & if required a detailer. Just curious if a duster of some sort was a Plan B. Given that my car after much work is a very very shiny wet look black Plan A it is & live with a light dusting. Plan C buy a white or silver car.
