insurance claim

I was involved in an accident over a year ago, a Prius decided he wanted my lane and moved over hitting me and also pushing me into a parked car.

With witness statements my insurer has said they are holding the other party 100% at fault, however, everytime I phone for an update I'm told the other insurer is being unresponsive.

I'm fast approaching my renewal and I'm again going to get stung for an unsettled claim and reduced no claims.

Is it just a case of waiting? What happens if the other insurer remains unresponsive, it's almost as if they have buried their heads in the sand and hope it will go away.

The problem here wont be so much with the other insurance company stalling but more the 3rd party not communicating with them. If the 3rd party doesnt process the claim with their insurance company then the company cant defend or process the claim without their side of the story.
