991.1 PCM Upgrade

Thanks for the link to this thread, much appreciated. Just posted this on another thread in the Boxter forum, but just to share my experience of adding Apple Carplay to my 991.1:
I ordered the kit for my 991.1 GTS from Nick at NMautomative and had it installed by Sextons in Wandsworth. Very happy with it, firstly the install is invisible and the carplay module is very discreetly accessed via a long press of the "info" button on the PCM. Nick was great at explaining the functionality and Sextons did a fantastic job of the install, couldn't tell they had been in the car.
I basically wanted to do it because I decided I'll probably keep the car for a couple more years (having had it for 3 years and still enjoying it) and the only thing missing from it was up to date infotainment. This has solved that problem and you can't even tell it's been installed.
just wanted to share as am very happy and would recommend.

Do you happen to know if it affects warranty in any way and whether it will get a ‘factory reset’ and no longer function post a Porsche service?
Thanks.
1. It will affect warranty, but the unit install is invisible so unless you are actively looking for it it's not going to be found. I have warranty left on my car but took the risk on my 4 year old car, but understand the concern here, wouldn't be for everyone.Thanks.
2. It's another unit that connects to the PCM (hidden within the PCM unit of the car), so as I understand a reset of the PCM unit wouldn't really affect this as its a different system. The existing PCM functionality is totally unaffected, and you essentially just flick between the normal PCM system and Carplay unit. The actual carplay software is mostly dictated by the phone itself, and this should be futureproof as Apple is unlikely to make existing carplay systems not compatible with future iOS updates. This system definitely works with the new iOS 13 due to be released in September. I understand this kit has an ability to receive new software via USB updates, but ultimately nothing is guaranteed to work forever I guess.
