Tracer 900/900GT Owners
Discussion
I had a test of a Tracer 900GT last week and got on well with it. I'd only gone in to see about a Tracer 700 but ended up on a 900GT within 10mins. I've not owned a bike for 5 years as I had to move with work but then work moved near home again so the thoughts of owning a bike again came back. Want something easy to ride, more upright position and something I can learn again if that makes sense as I've been a while away.
What are they like to own? Any issues or things to look out for? On the face of it the Tracer 900/900GT would be all the bike I'd need. Perfect for commuting, touring and fun too.

I've done over 4k miles on mine, and absolutely love it! I rode through the winter too, and the heated grips had to be turned down!
The screen definitely needed to be sorted, so got the MRA spoiler, and now it's spot on. I also added some decent levers, as I have smaller than average hands, and the adjust-ability helped this.

I've done 14K miles on mine over 3 years, typical Yamaha reliability, not a single problem. Range is about 200 miles when ridden sensibly, 170 if not! Screen needs replacing I have a short sports screen which is brilliant. I just come back from a weekend Wales, 600 miles in 2 1/2 days with a bunch of GS1200/1250 and S1000RR, easily as quick as any of those on the road, and nearly half the price. Whats not to like!
As above, no complaints so far with my GT, I've done a couple thousand miles on mine, inc 1300 last week in Scotland. Range up to 200 (160/180 before you start looking for fuel in typical riding). Mine came with Puig Touring screen, it keeps wind off but my word there is noisy turbulence. Might try adding a spoiler.
Brakes are "fine", handling on the soft side but safe enough, power is ample for its purpose. GT standard kit worth having over base model IMO, cruise and heated grips mainly.

Good to hear. I am still tempted by an XSR900 as it does cost a little less, love the looks, insurance is about the same. But after riding the GT it seems a very good option, even if it is a bit more than I initially wanted to pay. I keep reading about wobble on the standard Tracer. Is that true or has it been exaggerated?
