In need of some help...just passed my a2 test (I'm 21) and looking for a bike that a) I can fit on comfortably b) can commute on and c) isn't going to break the bank.

Current thoughts are a Fazer 600 (fox eye) but struggling to find anything else that falls within budget (3k).

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

I'm 5ft11 and the Fazer 600 felt small for me, although I was happy enough blasting around on it for 10k miles or so. Vstrom 650?

if you can find another £500 your in cb500f/x, 500 rebel, mt03 territory, all should fit a big lad like you.

Honda NC700 should fit the bill nicely.

Thanks all; going to look at the Versys and give a CB500X a go I think!

Can't praise the CB500x enough - I'm fairly tall, probably 6'2, and the bike was perfect. Ultra reliable, easy 70+ mpg on distances and commutes (and actually most of the time in general), enough power to overtake nearly everything easily.

I had a tall GIVI screen on mine, and it gave excellent wind protection - I was in a nice bubble of air with a good 2 or 3 inches of extra headroom to spare. Advise you look at those if you do choose the 500x.

3k will get you a solid one in a private sale. 3.5k will get you a good one, with a lot of nice extras (triple luggage, nice can, etc).

I sold my well-maintained high spec one in Black, 15 plate, recently for £3300.

The bike has such a good riding position, youll be sat nice and high up, no need to lean forward awkwardly over low handlebars!

Good luck, get it done :-)

Another vote for this. Should be able to get a Mk1 or Mk2 in budget. I've had two of them and they'll go all day long without issue. Seat is comfy and panniers will take a full face lid.

Thanks all- some helpful suggestions. Going to try and get a test ride on a Versy's and a CB500X and see which I prefer!
