Well ive kind of fked up on this game.

Went around killing people and robbing them.

Now have a 200 bounty in one place.
and
A 100 bounty in another.

Ive managed to surrender and spend time in a jail in another place to get rid of it. But now im just hunted by bounty hunters and i cant afford to pay the fines off, kind of taking away excitement from the game as im going to have to make a few hundred bucks just to pay them off urgh!!

On another note i feel this game is incredibly slow to get into and im starting to lose patience just running from place to place on horse, missions dont seem very shoot em up yet and im 18% in on the story, any tips to spruce it up a bit? Or any tips how to make some money?

Also how does one capture and sell a horse?

Check out the other thread as some useful info.

I’ve not played for a few months but what chapter are you on?
The first 2 or 3 are quite slow but it does get better.

I found the single player story quite good, online is wk though, the slow pace just doesnt work.

Single player won't get any better, it gets worse if anything - more drawn out and protracted.

The "story" just bumbles along with no real point or narrative (imho).

There is a lot of pointless stuff as well, like upgrading the camp, providing supplies, hunting, crafting.

Gold bars are a good earner.
If you are at horseshoe overlook base then down the hill towards the river there is a abandoned knackered town - in one of those buildings under the floor there is a gold bar (possibly the bank)

I think it's fantastic, but it's not GTA on horseback. If you want a action shooter you'll get frustrated when you have to fix a wheel on a wagon or teach a kid to fish just to progress the game onto the next big shoot-out.

It's not perfect, the controls are horribly complex meaning the same button press can do multiple things depending on your proximity, I don't know anyone who hasn't punched their horse or strangled a bystander just trying to mount up outside a saloon. Or indeed quick-draw and shoot someone in the face you're trying to help.

The story mode is more realistic than GTA. Committing crimes outside of missions causes lasting problems, tbh it's best to ride around without your guns drawn.

$300 isn't a huge amount for RDR2 depending on what part of the game you're in, you can rob a train but it's high-risk and more often than not will result in a huge shoot out and bigger bounty. Just killing and robbing the Bounty Hunters can yield more than the bounties and it doesn't affect your karma much.

Or just play 'bad' lots of players have $1000+ bounties all over the map, you can still ride into town etc, it just goes a bit nuts if you commit a crime. Bounty Hunters will come looking for you, but they're easy to avoid and not too hard to kill if you keep your deadeye up.

You can raise loads of cash looking for gold, there are endless maps and video online how to find them.

Dont take too much notice of what crafty says... hehe

Yes, its not a shooter like GTA... if you want that don't bother playing it... I've been enjoying online every now and then... good fun wandering, hunting with a bit of shooting and stranger missions...

Do tell why I should be ignored ?

Single player just never goes anywhere, there is no story. Ride somewhere, have a shootout (with the awful controls), no ride back to start the next mission, which is to ride somewhere, have a shootout.. you get the idea.

There is zero character progression, the story just wanders from one area to the next, repeating the same old tripe. The controls are awful and its very clumsy overall - I had to do one to do one of the missions with the woman, so the screen prompt says "get on your horse and follow xxx". I'm sat on my horse, the woman character was stood on the ground, not moving. I thought it was broken, eventually it got going again.

Its also very finnicky as to where you need to stand to interact with other characters. I was forever walking in circles to make the prompt pop up.

Later in the game there are utterly pointless bits like after the shipwreck you have to push forwards to make the character stumble along. Why ? its pointless.
The latter chapters are very badly drawn out, forcing you to pretty much cross the entire map between missions, of course the horse can't run that far, so you have to set up the camp thing to let it rest. There are lots more pointless cut scenes of your character travelling too - it feels like they ran out of ideas and packed it with filler.

The epilogues are a waste of time too.

You can't compare it to GTA as they are very different games and I wouldn't even try to compare them.

RDR2 falls a long way short of where it should have been and ultimately the only thing that goes some way to save it is just how pretty it is.

You could just slow down for a few seconds to recover some engery, or jab it with some drugs, or set to GPS and switch to cinematic view and it'll happily run along while you go for a slash and put the kettle on (just hope it doesn't run into a bunch of O'Driscoll's while you're in full flow....)

It has it's flaws, every game does, but to say it has no story...?

In 35 years of gaming it's the only game I've fallen asleep whilst playing laugh

Oh ignore them, I can't help but think that posters who write stuff like that have the attention span of a 14 year old on RedBull, skip every cut scene and then moan there's no story.

There's must be surely be another COD reboot in the pipeline to keep them from interfering with themselves for 5 minutes? wink

RDR2 has terrible controls, a clunky interface. A frustratingly long distance to travel between missions sometimes. Not too buggy, just feels clunky.

It’s also one of the best games I have ever played. The story is fantastic. I’ve never felt more emotionally invested in a video game.

Same, it’s the only game that has actually made me feel really sad after the end of the story.

I must be missing something as I did fine it rather boring. Still need to finish it but struggling to find the will power to do so

This is one of very few games that I have not only completed but want to finish all the side missions, im at about 89% overall completion and still hooked.
The travelling does get annoying at times BUT there are the carriages that transport you across the map to other towns but I love the random events you come across travelling.
At the end of the day we are all different and enjoy different things, its a good thing we all dont feel the same or else itd be a very boring world we live in. Some love it, some hate it.

Its nice to see the debate in here isnt just people insulting each other for a change - instead just sharing opinions!
