Solicitor complaint
Discussion
O legal bods of Pistonheads...
I recently remortgaged and the solicitor firm who dealt with it were a complete bunch of idiots from start to finish-their delays and incompetence ended up costing me about an extra £500 in interest. I’ve tried raising a complaint to them and their tactic seems to be “We’ll just ignore it and hope it goes away”.
Is there a governing body or similar that I can complain to about their conduct?

Yes, the Legal Ombudsman:

If your complaint relates to ethics rather than poor service, you could also complain to the SRA:

If in Scotland, the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission:

For a complaint about the service received from a solicitor, the internal complaints process should be engaged and thereafter the Legal Ombudsman is the appropriate remedy; see here - https://www.legalombudsman.org.uk/helping-the-publ...
