I was wondering if anyone knew of any dealers that accept credit cards for more than the deposit? A bit of a struggle at the moment. We have a 27 month interest free card that seems difficult to use!

What kind of car do you want?

Model / age / price?

You may be better off trying independent dealers. Big dealer groups tend to have policies to which nobody has the authority to provide exemptions. With an independent you have a better chance of speaking to the owner of the business.

Make it clear early on that you want to pay by credit card and would consider paying screen price rather than negotiating a discount to compensate for the merchant fees the garage will have to pay.

Balance transfer?

What sort of car are you after and how much you looking at spending?

Play the game and buy on finance then use card to settle finance.

Bought the wife’s Corsa VXR and my Q7 on a 0% card not too long ago - the dealership didn’t have any issues taking it at all?

Out of interest, does the finance company look kindly on that type of thing?

Settling an agreement has no adverse affect. Its just a case of taking out credit and paying it off. No informal marker is placed along the lines of a VT which may mean they don't want you back in the future.

I'm not sure which card you have, but Barclaycard are currently offering me 0% money transfers, to my current account. for 90% of my credit limit (ish).

Barclaycard were more than useless in their customer service. Three weeks of not telling me that the card I applied for was not available. Yet each time I called I was told my application had been submitted. On the final call, they decided it hadn't because it wasn't available.

Went to MBNA and got 27 months interest free instead, immediately.

Perhaps he meant smaller independent dealers? A bit like your local off licence...
