Hi all,

I am hoping you can help me ID this wheel, I was helping clear out my Father-in-Law's factory of things he has collected and this turned up. I'm pretty sure it's an Oz lightweight wheel and judging by the sticker and writing, it was probably fitted to a bike Garry McCoy rode.

I tried on facebook and a couple of folks mentioned perhaps it was from a Foggy Petronas bike and it does look similar. However, does anyone know how to identify the wheel from the numbers/letters combo on the wheel itself?

Please ignore the PFM disc as we are fairly confident it's been fitted at a much later date.

Any help/pointers appreciated. We are looking to sell it at some point but purely as memorabilia and not as a usable rim due it its age and 16.5" size.

I'd say its off the petronas FP1, it matches the rear wheel exactly

the Ducati wheels had straight spokes in 2004

Yeah I did think it was most similar to the FP1 but don't want to sell it as something it isn't!

Annoyingly it's easy to decipher an Oz lightweight car wheel, not the same for bikes it seems. I may just stick it on eBay and see what happens.

If you had seen the amount of crap motorcycle related items not being used accumulated by the father in law you may understand why he wants to sell hehe

It's an interesting piece though and may end up doing just that if we can't figure out what it is! I even sent Garry McCoy a message on facebook as he is running a cafe now but despite seeing he has read the message no reply as yet.
