Reading reviews on this product, Many say it should be left in the cooling system for a few days or so to have full effect, not a hour or so.

Also, are there any negative effects if it is left in the cooling system for too long?

What is the experience of many here?

Leaving it in for 48 hours shouldn't be a problem but keep an eye on the coolant level as if the radiator is a bit dodgy it could cause a few leaks ! Just out of interest why are you thinking of using it ?

Car is old and never had a flush. I have a suspicion that the heater matrix is clogged, as the heater under performs.

Hopefully it flushes out the innards of the idle control valve (Toyota) which has coolant water running through making that perform better.

ive never bothered with additives, ive always just drained the coolant and then attached a hose to the upper radiator hose and flushed the whole system through

There are 2 different products. Speedflush and radflush.

Speedflush is the quick 1, just follow the instructions.

Radflush is stronger, but not as quick. Again just follow the instructions.

Or you could just connect a hose pipe. If it is that blocked that the hose wont clean it, then I doubt any flush additive will.

Thanks. Chemicals can dislodge a blocked heater matrix, where crud has formed into a solid, where a hose pipe cannot.

If it is that clogged, get a new 1.

By the time you have put chemical flush through, you will find all the weak points in your cooling system.
