Hi, first time on here so apologies if this is an old subject/question! I have a 996 C2 ‘O2 plate with Pre MOST Bose sound system. I want to install a Pioneer double Din system to replace the Porsche original.

I’m not confident enough to tackle it myself so I’ve been looking for a professional outfit to do it. My problem is, I’ve been given conflicting advice. One company tells me that it’s a simple install; take the existing unit out, move the ac controls, slot in the Pioneer. But another say that the amp will need replaced otherwise, even though it’s pre MOST, it’ll suffer interference and it’ll reset every time i turn the ignition off and it makes a clicking noise when you turn the car on as it powers on. Any words of wisdom gratefully received!

Thanks

I put a pioneer double din into my '99 just with an iso adapter. Works absolutely spot on, no issues whatsoever. But i don't know that i even have an amp or if it all just runs off the headunit - I'm guessing the latter.

I also have an 02 pre MOST Bose 996 and simply swapped the original kak unit for a single DIN bluetooth Sony unit. It all plays via the original amp and speakers.

Very simple to modify and no programming,

Thanks guys, your feedback much appreciated. It’s interesting that the Porsche specialist and Porsche themselves state that a 02 996 MUST be fibre optic and need a £500 amp bypass mod! Clearly not.... 🙄
