Championship winning bike last year.
I read somewhere that the team changed a lot for him, crew etc (can’t remember details).
Hector turns up, scores points.

Tough decision made.

I feel for him, great rider, I really thought after the road races that he’d found his mojo,
Maybe, spurious sofa opinion incoming, it wasn’t that Shakey was in another league last year on the Panigale, but that Glenn isn’t quite there or that Leon was a bit special on Kwak?

We can guess and speculate but the teams have the data so they’ll know one way or the other.
Look at Brad Ray last year compared to this year, the bike isn’t working for him.

Mind you, they are all riding gods to me, looking forward to spending the day at Thruxton next week.

Simply put, he did not gel at all with the bike, remember Brookes on a BMW in SBK, he was back of the field!

best thing for both parties I guess, Don't think Haslam was much special on a Kwak he is quick and deserved his title, he did what was expected and would not have beaten Shane I don't think.

A lot of things are different this year in BSB, Fores and Andy Irwin for me are revelations, as is Bridewell on the Duke, to be there this consistently.

The Yamaha guys seem to crash a hell of a lot, Ray has been poor and the rest are about where you might expect.

Fores has been exceptional for sure.....

Im pleased Scott has found his mojo again.

O'Show is a huge let down after testing, dunno whats going on there.

Hicky STILL running STOCK motor ffs......

Josh....I cant put my finger on....Id have put money on the title being his to lose start of the year.

Big fan of TB, he just needs a cuddle and little more self belief befoe the wins come I think.

Shakey's assessment of GI wasn't exactly positive!

After Andrew's brilliant results (6th and 4th, IIRC), he said, while talking with Matt and James (and I might be paraphrasing), "You know what they say ... there are two Irwins in the paddock, one talks, the other listens."

To quote a certain commentator, did he jump or was he pushed?

I’m not surprised in the slightest. Last years championship winning bike and it’s nowhere. Must be difficult for the team to take too. They spunk a serious amount of money into it/him, I’d want results. I’m sure he can still beat Shaun Winfield though.hehe

I don't think it will have come as a surprise to many.

There is a certain irony to it, the way he publicly slated Tom Sykes for being beaten by Rea every week when Rea joined Kawasaki.

He has a point with Sykes though surely? Sykes has NEVER been able to not ride without shagging his tyres. And Rea can do it better. Simple. the bloke is faster so Irwin has a point. And the win ratio in R's favour was considerable soon as he got there.

As for the team, they surely had to expect a dip in form, Haslam was a factory Kawasaki rider, tapped in no doubt to good bits and stuff, Irwin had never ridden a big 4 cylinder in the class and clearly had no good feeling about the bike, surely better for both parties to quit.

I can't imagine Irwin is losing any sleep about not riding the thing again, as he clearly did not like it at all.

If i remember rightly, wasn't the Kawasaki before Rea joined a money no object thing? I seem to recall that everyone said Sykes would not be able to manage on it as it had control electronics and control tyres and they were proved right obviously.

Kawasaki was a factory team when the Lascorz people took it over from Bird, who was disgraced after using his truck for drugs running! I think it was the team who ran Lascorz, they had huge input from Kawasaki, and really it was the only factory bike with Ducati.

Sykes is a great rider, but even before and in his title year, he was renowned for railing the rear tyre, for some reason he cannot ride any other way, or look after it, he simply uses it more than most.

rea seems to be able to not to, or my theory, be able to adjust hist style!

The point is when you're, at best, average in a national championship, like Irwin, it's foolish to slate someone who has the talent to be World Champion, and who is still a front runner even on a brand new undeveloped bike.

If GI had been on the Kawasaki last year alongside Haslam he would still have been struggling to score points while his teammate was taking the title.

Easy for us to be critical of riders - it's our privilege as paying spectators - but riders slating a fellow rider, whose talent is in another league to their own, is just stupid.

+1 The talent and ability are undoubtedly there, if the bike suits him happy days. Sorry for Keith Farmer, hope he gets an opportunity when he is fit.

MD holds the NW200 Superbike lap record, the outright Superbike race record and has won 5 times.

This year the NW was his first race back after William was killed. I think he can be forgiven for not having a great meeting. Coming back after months off, and to the course where he lost his father, it was pretty clear to anyone watching he had a lot on his mind this time...

Last weekend he was at Armoy, racing with a broken pelvis, hip joint, ribs, etc etc. Getting around on a Zimmer frame and crutches. And he won.

To say he's only bothered about he TT is a bit wide of the mark.
