Advice on car buying strategy for next car
Discussion
Currently ended my lease on an XF and looking to either buy or lease (IF a good deal), the reason i took the XF in the first place was literally because the deal was THAT good for a £40k car (£197 a month 5k miles a year with a £1711 deposit over 24 months)
So my aim has always been looking at value-for-money, I'd put that as the primary factor and Make/Model secondary. And i am not desperate atm as i have a spare car that i can drive whilst i shop around for the next one.
I am basically hoping that i will be able to pick up a new german (audi, bmw, merc) saloon at roughly 40% off list, there have been quite a few C class offers which have been at 32-34% off List price recently as there is a new model due around the corner, same i think with the A4, the new 3 series is already on the roads. budget is around the £25k mark
And im hoping that around the Oct-Dec time i will be able to find a dealer desperate enough to offload one which they will let go at cost or even at a slight loss to make up their numbers for the quarter. I only know about this as i managed to get my wifes car at 36% off list when i hard negotiated a few years back.
If im correct, new car sales have hit the biggest % decrease last year which means this year is looking to fare worse, along with struggling Jag/Land rover and many UK car plants shutting down it seems like a buyers market for new cars this year.
My other option was just going for like a 640d M sport at around £15k 2012 but i think id rather be leaning towards something with warranty for the time being.
Do you think my plan is feasible to hold out till near xmas period in order to buy the car or are there some near 40% discounts on those brands that i am yet to be aware of. Thanks in advance
