So I drive for a living, (HGV) im currently in the 8th month of a year long drug trial that means I need to finish early on a Fri on a 4 weekly basis. (The Fri app was simply to make life easy as im away most of the week, so getting me back in the week would be more difficult to plan)

Work are becoming difficult in either planning my work or making sure im back.

So they are now trying to make me take holiday days for the remaining appointments, ive refused and said ill take them unpaid as it means ill have no holidays left for the reminder of the year as what I have left will be eaten up.

Am I or them being unreasonable, I think they are as before I accepted this trial I spoke to the relevant people to ask if it was going to be a problem and was told no.

Now 8 months in it seems for what ever reason they are being an arse.

These appointments are the only thing I have time off for, Dentists are a Saturday app, only time ive been off sick in 6 years was for pneumonia. (which was 5 yrs ago)

So not like im some sick note having time off willy nilly for nothing.

Is there anything I can throw at them if and when the time arises? or should I just stand my ground over the unpaid thing?

Thanks in advance

Does your condition qualify as a Disability under the Equality Act? (sounds like it may do given your OP but still).

My condition is acute broncol asthma, the trial im on is to free up my lung capacity and cut back on steroid tablets that im taking.

So in the past 8 months my lung capacity has nearly doubled (44% at the start and its now at 85%) I used to take 4 steroids a day, I now take 2 and am in the process of cutting them even more, but due to this warm weather and my hay fever its not the right time.

They know all this but its still a constant battle to get back etc.

Have you asked them in writing to make reasonable adjustments?

Sounds like you have something similar to me, my lung capacity was 63%, when i was in 14 and in school, the doctor told me I would never work, now 67 and still work full time as consultant to one of the big oil companies, this is because I've always looked after myself, That is one hell of a lung capacity increase, can't advise on the legal position but what ever you do keep the appointments, and good luck.
