Wheel Alignment

Has anyone come across this...

Just had ATS fit x4 new Michelin tyres on my three series and was told that they aren’t allowed to alignment on BMW cars as they need to be weighted down and that the car should go to a main dealer..

Is this true or are there other systems / garages that can do the alignment?

The front wheels need doing and would prefer not to use main dealer as BMW service is appalling!

When I had my E39 done many years ago some weights were added to the car and I was told the settings were with this weight in the car. I didn’t argue and the car drove fine afterwards.

Find your local Hunter alignment place and get them to do it

They can do the car with or without weights; the system will tell them whether they're needed or not etc

They sorted my E39 touring after we'd replaced more or less all the suspension components and they set it with a fast road set-up in mind and the car handles superbly for a big old bus

As above really, find someone with a hunter system and make sure they know how to use it.

I had mine done at ATS, I went back to them twice as it was fking awful. I then took it to a local tyre place with a hunter system and they transformed the car. I’ve no idea if they used weights or not, it wasn’t mentioned.

Not cheap at £60 but worth every penny.

That was on my 330ci by the way.

If you tell us where you are I’m sure someone local could recommend somewhere.

I’ve just had another ATS garage, one that I normally use, saying they can do it no issues.. Apparently all ATS garages should have the same systems which means they can BUT some may not
