Bravo for bravery! Beautiful cars, such road presence without being ostentatious. Love the colour too. The successor never really achieved the same trick in my eyes. Drove the 65 AMG version of this, what a monster! But still extremely comfortable and relaxing. Good luck and enjoy!

I really love these CLs but am too scared to own one!

I suppose that for £1k, even if it presents you will some big bills it is still top barging.

Lovely colour too, a nice change from the usual silver or black.

What is it like for rust? That can often be the killer with these, never cost effective to properly get rid of it.

I don’t think these ones suffered too badly. Never seen a rusty one unlike every other Mercedes of the era.

they're aluminum and magnesium so they don't rust, just corrode really badly

I once swapped my mint condition 328i Sport for an absolute dog of a CL500 in ice blue after needing to scratch the V8 itch.....
To thing you can pick up what once was a 80k+ new for shed money these days its crazy however they certainly come with there costs. I only had mine a coupe of months. A quote for a new rear shock (£1800) and the HUGE thirst for fuel finally saw me get shot after a brief fling with the silky smooth V8.

The MPG usually sat between 3-9mpg so not great for someone doing 3000 miles per month at the time.....

Often get drawn back to these in the classifieds then remind myself how nice it is to have a disposable income.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement
It's not to rusty couple of scabs on the bottom of the doors and one on the c pillar
Suspension appears to be working ok raises up and lowers ok, really goes up quite high in raised mode!
All the electrics inside are working (at the moment) also love the soft close doors
Couple of pics gave it a clean up
No idea what I'm going to use it for once or if it's fixed but it's cool

The MPG should be miles better than the single digits quoted above - 23-28 surely? My old 500SL does about that unless I drive like a total knob!

At a grand that looks like quite a fun project.

I was very briefly the custodian of its supercharged cousin and that did high teens or very lows 20s at a cruise. You'd like to think that would be in the same ballpark.

For 1k it's an absolute steal!

I'm really tempted to do something like this rather than lease again. If it lasts a few months before packing in then it's a win!

If it's both rear sensors then it could also be one of the SAM (Signal Acquisition Modules) in the rear. It's odd that both would fail at the same time.

Be careful with cheap ABS sensors off eBay with these. I've known them fry the ABS unit when fitted. Only use proper branded ones.
