Hello,
Im currently 23 and at the moment I drive a Subaru wrx hawkeye which I do like and love the noise, I haven't owned it very long at all as I wasn't expecting to change jobs and its not really ideal now.

So basically as the title says I have started a new job recently which is 27 miles each way and after a 10 hour shift its not the most comfortable.
54 miles a day, 5 days a week but will change to 4-4 12hr shift soon after summer so around 11.5k miles a year 90% motorway no real traffic.

After some other opinions and car suggestions really budget up to 6k, only use it for driving to work. Rather it be manual.

My question is would you go petrol or diesel as sensible option would be diesel but never had one just seem a bit boring

Im after something a bit more refined and slightly different nothing crazy just not your everyday bmw/Audi/ford etc for context I had a mk2 Seat leon in bright yellow and now the wrx which i think are different.. the brighter the colour the better smile

Ive been looking at:
MK2 Mazda 3 MPS - Fast, look good but might drink more fuel than wrx?
Volvo C30 D5 - Nicely built, good power but seem a bit too sensible
VW Scirocco 2.0tsi - Like a green one
Nissan 350z - Sound good, GT car but again would probably rinse me fuel wise
Audi a5 3.0 tdi - Fast, look good but mega miles for 6k
Alfa romeo Brera?

Any other options available?

Hi I'd say the Alfa Giulietta in Veloce trim is the place to look with a nice spec & 170bhp to keep you interested:

The next two are from mainstream makers but models you don't see often:

Megane GT Line

Astra GTC 180

Diesel wise I'd be going for this, with a good amount of power & great (the stereo is a corker) spec along (you'll have to haggle hard & creep on the budgeta bit) with sensible miles it's hard to beat.

Is it a 'smart' motorway with (average) speed cameras?

If so, something that encourages 'relaxed' driving is probably best - anything eager to have fun will just make you frustrated when the road is empty and you're stuck at some boring speed so as not to get caught out, whereas something barge-y will encourage you to serenely waft along.

2010 Honda Accord 2.2 i-DTEC Type S at £4,999 leaving you a grand in your pocket.

Quite rare to see, decent size, comfortable (has double wishbone suspension), lots of toys and being the Type S it's got the increased power at 178bhp which can be remapped to 225bhp and 440Nm of torque so plenty of go. These ones are built in Japan and are very reliable. 48mpg combined and only one previous owner.

Nice one here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
