Does this happen to anyone else on PH?
Discussion
After white wine, 2 or 3 decent size glasses, nothing else, you drift off into a pleasant sleep only to wake 3 hours later with buzzing head and general irritability.
The last time I noticed it I had drank a bottle of Chardonnay with my wife which resulted in a noticable 'itchiness' all over my skin.
This time it's a Chablis (not really cheap stuff too, both were £8 plus per bottle).
No real 'itchiness' this time but still, not desirable

Sounds like you are allergic to Sulfites, they occur naturally in some wines and are added to white wines to keep them from turning dark. My Mother has this allergy and has to shop especially for Sulfite free wine.
Here is more info for you:

All the more reason to stick to 'real ale' ![]()
so natural its health food
This is it you see; I normally have a botlle of ale each night, something like a Black Sheep or Tim Taylor purely because I enjoy it with my meal. Last night we were having seafood and my wife thinks it would be "nice" if we share a bottle of white.
I'll try Sauvignon Blanc but I normally find this a bit pallid. Interestingly Rosés never have this effect on me.
Thanks for the advice people. Didn't know the Chab and Chards are same grape. That explains the common reaction then.
