Is there an official definition of what constitutes a run on the pound?

(I can imaging the squawking if a new Labour PM had this impact on the value of the pound )

I don’t think so, but parity might be a decent threshold.

Crazy really, given the autumn is likely to see the ECB printing presses overheating.

Does the BoE have any mandate to protect the value of the pound?

Not that I'm aware of.

Inflation at 2% is their primary goal AIUI...which will be influenced by the value of the pound but that's not an aim in itself.
