First time at a main dealer. Advice please!
Discussion
Hi chaps.
I would love some advice here, I found a lovely A4 Avant at a local dealer and I really need a new car. My last car cost 1000 and this is up for 25000 so I’m a little out my depth having never bought something so new.
Clearly a dealer has to make money but has only budged by 600 quid
I was hoping for more off. In my eyes it’s still a good deal with 24 months warrantee.
1: any further bargaining chips, freebies or service packs? What’s the expected wiggle room on such a car?
2: I have the cash so was going to pay in full but the dealer was insistent on getting me a pcp and sure it would be a better option. I would keep the car for more than 4 years. Any advice here?
3: lastly, anything unexpected to know about the car? 18 plate a4 avant black pack in grey.
Thank you!

How much discount do you expect?
Why do you expect it?
Is it reasonably priced compared to rest of market?
What if it was up for 28k 2 weeks and is now 25k? How much off do you want?
There is no fixed discount. There cannot be, it depends on far too many variables.
They want you on pcp as you pay interest. Obvious really isn't it? What Apr are you being offered?
You may get a better price (+ other incentives) for taking pcp..... Take it and clear finance a week later if you want.

1) Towards the end of a sales 1/4 may get a better deal, but it won't be night & day. Dealers now pass a full tank of fuel off as a discount - margins aren't what they used to be.
2) Do the sums & compare all options, dealer incentives can turn logic on its head.
3) Google for issues related to the specific engine / box fitted.
