Evening all. I have. 58 plate F01 7 series, 730d, which until today has been flawless

Now, for some reason none of the media functions are working. I get an error message stating "SOS SYSTEM FAILURE" and then nothing.

No radio, media, nav, heads up, Bluetooth, nothing. Can't BDO anything on idrive and screen is blank.

Codes on the "secret" menu are attached.

Anyone seen anything similar?

Is the battery flat? Sorry I'm not a mechanic but that is the first thing suggested for these issues.

No, starts and drives but now you mention it the car did take a few presses of the key to unlock.

Do new batteries need coded for the smart features?

To close this off. It was a solitary fking 2 quid fuse that took out over 10 bloody systems. irked

I thought I’d checked every fuse, but my multi meter skills failed and caused a false positive which led me to stripping the bloody car trying to find damaged wires.

Anyway, all back together and working fully. Pictures for amusement and info!!

Wow - really misleading error by BMW - it could just say fuse blown...

Anyway is it not visible when a fuse goes - the plastic case/tab is transparent (or open) so that a visual inspection can be made even without pulling the fuse out? Why would you need a multimeter to test a fuse?

The smaller blade fuses aren't transparent unfortunately so without taking them all out one by one you wouldn't see it. Although with the path I went it would have been quicker

If you set the multimeter to ohms and bridge the terminals with the probes you will hear a beep which confirms continuity. No beep = broke.

Well done on getting it sorted. Glad it was ultimately an inexpensive issue.

Not especially. They are VERY well screwed together but with some proper trim removal tools, patience and double checking everything was disconnected it was fine. Went back together great as well. Very well designed helps.
