Detaching roof rods on a 987
Discussion
Anyone successfully done the above? My roof is fully open and won’t operate. Nothing is visibly broken and I’ve tried disconnecting the battery just to see if the cause was an electrical gremlin. I can see the 2 pairs each side which need detaching as shown in the manual and have tried using the supplied lever and a fair bit of force but no success and am worried about breaking something. I wondered if using a loop of banding and pulling might be better than prying them off.
Anyone managed it themselves and any helpful tips they can pass on please?
Thanks in advance.

if you mean popping the white ball sockets off the ball joint (one each side), then yes have done it a few times.
It does need a bit of force, so I used a small crowbar and covered the bodywork with some thick carpet/cardboard in case of any slip ups
a progressive firm steady lever behind the white ball joint pushing it towards the outside of the car will do it - takes a fair bit of pressure but will pop off suddenly (hence the carpet on the bodywork)
Yes that’s them. There are also 2 black rods each side which need to be disconnected - they need to be pushed towards the inside of the car. The white ball sockets seem like they will be the easier of the two however the inner piece of metal flexes a fair bit when I try which is a bit alarming! I can see how a small crowbar would be better than what’s in the Porsche toolkit.
Thanks for replying.

Tried a few reset techniques without success. After connecting the battery I can get them fully closed if I manage to stop them at the precise moment, although when I open the door they don’t move automatically. As soon as I lower them the won’t go all the way up - they stop about 3 inches lower than the fully closed position. Anyone else had this problem?
