mag mount for smart phone

I want to mount my smart phone on the car - probably on the roof - to video a classic car parde.

Any reason why I can't use the strong magnets from an old hard disc drive.

Would the magnetism affect the phone ?

I wouldn't have thought the magnetism affects the phone, there's plenty of magnetic car mounts around. In fact, my phone still has a magnetic sticker on the back from when I used to use one. Doesn't make any noticeable difference
