20w-50 to reduce oil loss
Discussion
I have an old car that's on borrowed time but needs to last until the end of the year. The sump has become porous and leaks oil. It's a 1.2 Fiat and uses 10w-40 and I want to know if I can temporarily use 20w-50 to reduce oil loss. Is this extreme or will 15w-40 be sufficient. I don't care about car and it will be scrapped in December. Cheers xx

The people who said "just replace it" are right. I cracked every bolt to make sure none were seized, including the manifold, and none were, so am going to buy a sump and get my hands dirty.
Just one question as there is no sump gasket, so what sealant is best to use?
Many thanks
No sump gasket? By design? I doubt it, Fiat sump gaskets are dirt cheap, use one with a gasket sealant and do the job properlyJust one question as there is no sump gasket, so what sealant is best to use?
Many thanks
