Hi guys,

I have recently replaced the battery on my Renault megane as I was regularly having to jump start it. It now starts fine most of the time. However, when I stall, it takes me a number of tries to start if again. Generally I resolve this by putting car in neutral, holding clutch in and pressing start (won't start initially by going into first gear). I've also noticed if I stop the car, switch off engine and quickly try to re start the same problem occurs. Does anyone know what this issue could be or more importantly how much its likely to cost to fix?

Thanks in advance guys.

If it's a petrol then a wild guess would be crank reference sensor.

By not starting, do you mean.....

The engine spins over but wont fire/start ? Or

Nothing happens at all ?

Issue now resolved - Oddly seemed to be an issue with my spare key fob!

Damn it,

Still having same issue. Engine won't turn over at all sometimes and makes just a very slight noise when trying to start it. Most of the time it starts OK but occasionally it will do this. Anyone got any ideas what it could be? Can't be the battery as I changed this three weeks ago.

Check your connections on the battery, could be loose. Alternatively check where the earth strap connects to the car (again for loose joint).
