What’s the tape for !

It's a temporary repair (with high speed tape) covering areas of missing paint on the composite wing/body fairing.

Looks like it was done in a hurry.

It really is quite strange stuff. You can apply one layer and it covers like a kind of stiff kitchen foil, but if you then put a second or third, etc layer on top it almost starts turning into a single sheet of aluminium and starts becoming a solid piece of metal again. You can never pull it apart again - we'll I've never managed.

It does a good job and is occassionally left in place longer than it really ought to be ahead of a proper repair.

I did wonder if it was some sort of method for a temporary repair for surface damage. You have confirmed it’s most likely just defective paint on the fairing.

Just being an inquisitive engineer, I could imagine some lay people getting into a panic thinking the wing was held on with gaffer tape ! I could say that to the wife and she would start to panic lol
