Looking to get myself a daytime/road legal track bike, it’ll be my first track bike as such. Been looking at all sorts and would quite like to buy a standard bike and do it all myself but I can also see the benefits of buying something already sorted for the job.

Been to see two 05 ZX6Rs today and I liked them but wasn’t 100% sure. However, I have found a tidy (and cheap) K3 600 that already has a few bits on it. I’ve had two K5 600s in the past and also a K6 1000... Would a K3 600 seem prehistoric in comparison?

I really like the 05/06 ZX6R's having had a road one and a track one at the same time, however I also borrowed a mates K2 GSXR600 track bike and it was brilliant to ride. nice handling, lovely gearbox, the only slight let down was the brake feel compared to the Radial brakes on the ZX6R but this could just be down to pad compound. What I am trying to say is either will make a good track bike get the best you can for your budget.

Nice!

I had a very similar bike as a trackbike and it was great. It came with a quick shifter and forks from a K8 750 which made a big difference.

ETA: Biggest changes I made were rebuilding calipers and K tech refreshed the suspension.
