992 -10mm chassis and brushed alumiunium interior questions
Discussion
I'd like some help with some 992 questions please.
1) I was wondering if anyone has taken delivery of a 992S with the -10mm chassis please and can please answer the following:
a) Is the car is OK getting over speed bumps?
b) Is the -10mm suspension firmer than the standard suspension in the respective normal and sport setting? Is -10mm suspension in normal setting too hard for the road in normal setting in other words? I have driven a 992S on standard suspension and I found the normal suspension setting fine for daily driving.
I think the 992 S on standard suspension sits a bit high and leaves a significant gap between top of tyre and wheel arch. So I'd really be after the -10mm chassis for cosmetic reasons, ie to make the car look more hunkered down. But I wouldn't want to have -10mm suspension if the car won't easily go over speed bumps or if the suspension was too firm in the normal setting for daily use. And I wouldn't fork out on both -10mm suspension plus front axle lift. You have to draw the line on options somewhere!
I'm guessing the above questions can all be addressed at the Porsche Experience Centre prior to ordering a car but I was hoping for views here first.
2) I was thinking the brushed aluminium interior option would look better than standard but I can't find any pictures of a 992 interior with this option. Does anyone have this option on their car and perhaps car to share a photo please? Also, I presume the faux ?carbon inlay stuff is retained with the brushed aluminium interior package? ie it's just the shiny pits of plastic fake metal that are replaced with brushed aluminium?
Thanks.

I just bought a 991.2 GTS - which need a quick warranty fix, so OPC put me in a 992 for a week. The car has -10mm and the aluminium interior. The aluminium trim in the 992 is much more sleek than 991 gen. It is only thin strips as you can see in the photos and actually looks really nice. It is inlaid with a patterned grey plastic.
The -10mm rides fine - I have gone over multiple speed bumps and nothing close to a scrape! The car actually has front axle lift but I have not used it once. Wasted option for me on this car, as what is higher than a speed bump?!
The big alloys fill the arches really well. On -10mm there is VERY little arch gap for "just" a carrera S. Looks really planted, even compared to my GTS (maybe even more so.) Also - the ride is not harsh AT ALL - it would make a great daily driver. Much more supple than my 991.2 GTS.

Thanks JD. What a fantastic post. Exactly the sort of answer I was looking for. I totally agree with you about the 992 looking better with -10mm suspension. And I'm pleased the ride is nicer than a 991.2 GTS. That's that decided then!!
I'm also pleased you think the brushed aluminium interior looks good. I think it will give the interior a classy edge. The interior I fancy is exactly as per the photos of the 992 you are driving, that steering wheel, Sportex and everything.

I didn’t spec the RWS on my previous GTS.2 but I have on this 992. It’s difficult for me to comment but I truly love how this vehicle handles. Sport Chassis , RWS and Sports Chrono all day long for me
Thanks Chipper. That is very helpful indeed. I am chuffed that -10mm suspension is OK day to day.Your car looks amazing. Well done.
I'll check out RWS at the Porsche Experience Centre. Not sure I will go for it though and the same goes for PDCC as I'm not sure either matter unless you do lots of track days which I wouldn't do in this car, it's a daily driver. My current spec is already 108K and I think that's enough really for a C2S! You need to draw the line somewhere otherwise it's a 130K car which would be silly. And the 992 S I drove the other day didn't have RWS and TBH it felt fantastic.
Thanks again.

Chipper, is there any chance you could post a close up shot of the aluminium trim on the dash please? Is there any non-metal inlay on top of it like in JD's photo above? Or is the dash trim all aluminium? The Porsche configurator doesn't really make it clear. Thank you.Chipper said:
It’s all I’ve got at the moment. I’d add a bit of colour if I was spacing again with the dials . Even though I went crayon i’d probably go red dials for chrono and rev .
Thanks Chipper. I appreciate it. What I think I am seeing in your photos is that the whole trim is in brushed aluminium rather than the top bit being that plastic / faux carbon stuff. Is that right please? I would rather the while trim be metal and not part metal and part plastic / faux carbon. johnny senna said:

The aluminium strip is still stuck on the main bar if you get what im on about? Heres some photos on the drive in natural light.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
