A Spitfire and a Pilatus flew over the house a couple of hours ago in close formation.
Seems they're off around the world today...

I saw this on TV this morning. Fair play to the guys, I suppose, for getting all that funding for what looks like nothing more than a massive jolly.

We saw it at Duxford, it looked stunning. Didn't realise they were doing a big trip though - will be interesting to see how they get on and it looks like they will be filming it so I guess a DVD will be out at some point.

Beautiful. Looks almost like it's made from liquid silver, rippling as she goes.

Their website says first leg was supposed to be Dux to Lossie, but FR24 has it landing in Newcastle yesterday, and no sign of it flying so far today.

Do it put into Newcastle for weather reasons or tech ones I wonder.

The picture shows it leaving Lossiemouth and then returning from the north.

FR24 also shows it returning to Lossiemouth.

Returned Lossiemouth due to bad weather but what does seem odd is that the support Pilatus (OYTHP) is now in Reykjavik.

Found a pic of it tucked away in Lossie for the night

I've read the section on their website entitled 'Why fly a Spitfire around the world' but it doesn't explain why they're doing it, it just outlines what they're doing. Have I missed something?

... its one of those, "why not ?" ... because we can sort of things... I think there's also a charity thing with Unicef linked to it too ...

And looking at the weather for rest of today, I think it will be staying there until tomorrow afternoon at least.

Weather looks to be clearing from the north by tomorrow afternoon, so they might get a window to make the hop up to the Faroes in the afternoon.

They seemed to get abeam the orkneys before turning back, I wonder why they returned to Lossiemouth instead of going into Kirkwall or even Lerwick? Maybe it’s to do with hanger facilities etc?

Steve Brooks is hugely wealthy and funds most of it himself, I believe.
