Hi all,

Looking for a reliable runner to do motorway miles for under 2.5 to 3k. Would be nice to have something with a little style. Would like something a little bigger than the fiesta's as I don't feel so safe on the motorways in them.

57 golf TDI GT 100k
08 Lexus is 22d sport 95k
57 Pugeoot 207 1.6 hdi se 60k
06 Audi A3 2.0 TD S line

Any better or alternative suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I've just bought for £2995 a 59 plate Kia Ceed Estate 1.6D, 85k with full history.

It cruises lovely in 6th and easily gets 55mpg. its only ever failed one MOT which is the one done as part of the sale and that was for a bulb!

You don't feel safe in a Fiesta on the motorway. Honestly?!

How about a SAAB 93 TTID AERO. Check them out. Good spec and have a lot of extras that most Germans don't for the price you are looking at.

You say you dont feel safe in a Fiesta, but have a 207 on your list?

What about a Volvo D5?

Isn't the 1.6 HDi engine in the Peugeot legendarily terrible and the lexus 2.2D not much better?

Yes thats right - whereas the 1.6 in the Kia has no DPF to worry about and is pretty much bomb-proof

Vectra or mondeo diesel. Good vfm and will be a comfy economical cruiser. Loads to choose from too.

As it seems it has to be a diesel I'd be looking for a BMW 330d.

Apparently it needs some style to so a e46 320/330d Coupe or 320d Compact would be close.

What about the Alfa GT jtd coupe, Mercedes c class compact or Honda civic 2.2 cdti
