Hi all,

At some point I'll need to replace the silencers on my 6.2 GT3, they've been advised that they're starting to split for about 2 years.

There's a bewildering array of options available, from just replacing the silencers with standard, Dansk pattern parts, something like a cargraphic free flow or even switchable silencers, straight pipe the fecker, even a very reasonably priced full system with manifolds from Designtek (Design911).

What's the concensus? Requirements:

  • A bit more noise might be nice but I'd still like to do trackdays
  • I don't want to spend £5k
  • Happy to self-fit
Thoughts from the congregation?

Chris

i had an exhaust fabricator (local one belonged to long life and come with decent reviews on different forums) knock me something up, showed them a picture of the After Hours exhaust for ours, they knocked me up something similar, cost £600 (cat-back) and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Had Cat back straight out - sounded awesome but robbed it of low down torque. I posted a video on youtube.

Talking of which, someone in America had done a comparison video of loads of different exhausts in the one vid. Obviously restricted to how good your speakers are but gives you an idea

I’ll probably go for Kline when my 997 GT3 needs doing but they are fairly expensive. There’s been some bad feedback on the quality of Dansk systems on other forums over the years. I had Cargraphic sports mufflers on my 996 C2 and they were a good balance of weight saving, high quality and good sound. Parr near Gatwick is the agent for them. M&M are the supplier worth looking at - Carnewal sells them.
