This is Shangri-la!
Discussion
I've been on some of the other forums lately, and what dens of iniquity they are. I made a flippant comment about a stupid posting and was told I obviously know nothing of the history of F1, despite having followed it since 1964 and having read everything I could get my hands on about racing from 1896 onwards. The place is full of back biting, one-upmanship and pointless arguments.
Breathe.
Then I come here and it's all sweetness and light. People are happy to be put right and learn. Trains, boats and planes all coexist side by side. There are hardly ever snide comments about spelling or grammer (
).
Thank you everyone!

I hate to burst your bubble, but there have been some threads in this forum that have exhibited the characteristics you refer to.
Couldn’t just celebrate a nice post, you had to pick an argument !
There are plenty of great threads on this site, that are full of useful information, a variety of opinions, humor and some really knowledgeable people.
Yes there is some grammatical pedantry, but it is rare that someone gets out and out shouted down. Just stay out of NP&E and most things are good !

Is this a five-minute argument, or the full half-hour?
Got to be the mid week special 32mins.
Bless you, my children.

You have much to learn Grasshoppers. There will be no arguments here. This is a zone of Peace and Enlightenment. If you don't like it you can just peace off.
Bless you, my children.
Do you run a cult? Feel like some time in some random mountains - let me know where to send my bank details and pension savings to. Bless you, my children.

Do I WHAT???Oops, sorry I misread that; that's better, got my reading glasses on now.
No need for bank details; paper trail and all that. Just bring the readies with you in used, non-consecutive £20 notes.

Someone came on the B,P & Ts thread once and said Concorde could fly faster than the speed of sound. Utter nonsense. It’s a savage place really!

It could. But it can't.

If you were listening to the radio on Concord, in flight, what would be the speed of the sound coming out of the radio's speakers? And would a conveyor belt make any difference to the outcome?
Only if the conveyor belt is running in the opposite direction...in which case the Concorde would not take off....2fast748 said:
I was only thinking yesterday Ginetta G15 Girl hasn't been around for a while..........seriously though, I think I could pass ny PPL just from getting caught in her slipstream!
I miss her.Sure she was a bit spicy sometimes but it must be annoying having people constantly talking b
ks and arguing with her about a subject she knew a lot about. Then when she pointed out their mistakes (in an overly aggressive way) she got a load of misogyny. Getting rid of these characters though does make it a bit duller in here, in my view.
What makes PHs great is the variety of posters from a variety of backgrounds freely giving advice and expertise on all kinds of topics. What makes it a bit rubbish are all the blaggers and bulls
tters making out they know stuff based on googling and arguing endlessly about things they obviously don’t really know about. It all seems to be part of a mindset amongst a section of people and some PHers, that you can’t trust experts and professionals and people with qualifications. We don’t have facts anymore, we have alternate facts and conspiracy and “what they don’t want you to know” nonsense polluting threads from people with absolutely no relevant qualifications or knowledge at all.
