Porsche Roulette or not?

So, I've bought a 911 after years of hankering after one.
It's a good colour for resale apparently (grey).
I have never set eyes on the car, and it's so far from me that it might as well be at the opposite end of the country.
It was an auction telephone purchase (a proper auction, not a well-known internet site).
It apparently (according to the auctioneer) presents very well and has a comprehensive service history, though I have not seen it and have no idea what it does or doesn't contain.
It's a 997 Gen 1.
What could possibly go wrong?
It arrives tomorrow on a low loader, so I will find out the answer to that question, at least in part then.
I'll be back with more after I have seen it in the flesh.

I ran one of these for a year. Fantastic car and no drivetrain issues whatsoever. I did put in a low temp thermostat which supposedly helps. I did also buy a third rad kit (which is surprisingly cheap from Porsche) but never fitted it in the end as it was not proven to actually help with heat management.

So, it's here.
I have to say that I cannot fault the service from CCA (I have bought from them several times before though), nor from their appointed transport firm - E M Rogers (though I would expect a firm that has the contract for Aston Works Service at Newport Pagnell to be pretty good). Both were beyond reproach.
So, to the car. Well, from a cursory inspection I am delighted. The colour combination is perfect and the interior is excellent. Externally, there are a couple of small age related marks and scratches (some you have to look pretty hard even to see, but I am a perfectionist). Nothing that I would not expect of a fifteen year old motor and most of which will clay and polish out when I attack it shortly.
It was nice to see perfect wheels, newish brakes and a matching set of Pirelli P Zero's with plenty of tread. There is an MOT until June 20 too, as well as a box folder containing every MOT (pass and fail) since new. Also in the box folder is the original Porsche book pack and wallet with the service book fully stamped and up to date. All bar two services have been with Porsche main dealers. The brake fluid changes are also documented. Besides this lot, there is every single invoice and bill seemingly from new. I have not had any time to go through these in any detail, but they are mostly from Porsche as said. I was gratified too see a RMS replaced by Porsche Cardiff under the goodwill scheme in there at 43,000 miles.
The car drives very nicely. The engine is sewing machine smooth and it tracks arrow straight. All the hallmarks are of a car that has received lots of love and care. There was a new performance exhaust manifold in 2017 and extensive work on the air-con in 2018 (including replacement of both condensers). In spite of this the air-con blows lukewarm, so something is still awry (my mates 996 is like an ice-cave). The gear-lever feels to be quite "sloppy", with quite a bit of movement, though the change itself is perfect. Hopefully a relatively easy fix. Only one key, which was disappointing, but will sort that.
So far, so good.......
