New car for around 3k

19 years old, 2 years no claims. Currently drive a 320d e46 rust shack with 100k miles on it. I get 54MPG currently combined.

I have 3k saved up and am looking for a new car. What I would love to get is an MR2 MK1, but it probably isn't very realistic, unless anyone can advise me.

Looking at a 320d coupe, 320i, z4 2.2 ect....

I'm happy with anything that gets 35+mpg on the motorway as this where I'm doing most of my driving daily.

Can anyone recommend something sporty and quick that meets my criteria ?

Is the 320d approaching imminent death? At your age is be inclined to milk it for as long as possible whilst saving some more. 5k opens up your options big time.
