Hi

This is my first post here so please be gentle.

After many years fo dreaming, I've just bought my first Aston (2015 DB9 Volante) smile which I'll hopefully take delivery of next week.

On the test drive I noticed that the interior mirror was a manual one. Everything I have read subsequently implies they were auto-dipping from about 2009 confused. I realise this is hardly the end of the world but can anyone else who has one of these confirm what their car came with please.

TIA
Richard

Welcome chap - congratulations on the new purchase!

The interior mirrors have never dipped - these are always manual - but the side mirrors do dip I believe. This should be standard on the 2015 car I believe. If it's not working - it might just need programming.

Cheers

Chris.

Hi
Thank you - it just goes to show you can't believe everything you read smile
The next week until I can take delivery is going to seem very long cry

Hi Chris- welcome to the Aston world. There is a rule here though. Unless pictures are posted - it never happened.

So- looking forward to the pictures. thumbup

Welcome!

On Vantages (so I may be wrong for DB9s) as far as I know, there are 3 different interior mirrors:

- Simple, hence no auto-dimming and no Homelink buttons
- Auto-dimming, with no Homelink
- Full, with all of the above

But neither of those is auto-dipping, eg. moving by itself, just auto-dimming when rear lights are detected.

Are you referring to the ability to reduce glare from lights on cars behind you? That's the auto dimming referred to in the above post.

Sorry - yes - I meant auto-dimming confused - I was kind of expecting that to be standard in a 2015 car at AM prices wink
If it's not standard then is it an easy (read not eye wateringly expensive) retrofit?

Well, I've got it and I have added some pictures so it's 'official' wink
Notwithstanding a couple of rattles/squeaks which I'm hoping the dealer will sort out I love owning it.
Interestingly the noises weren't apparent on the test drive so our roads here are obviously much rougher rolleyes

In case anyone else is interested, the self-dimming mirror is about £380 fitted (the garage door version is nearly £900 eek)

Welcome to the world of Aston Martin parts pricing. If you really want to scare yourself, investigate how much a replacement glass key will cost you and, when you find that out, how much an official AML leather pouch to store it in to prevent damage costs.

The car does look gorgeous, though. And I have sympathy on the squeaks and rattles - I think my Vantage must have spent its life on smooth roads before I got it.

I know I'm biased but I do think she is absolutely gorgeous.
I can't walk past her without smiling :-) My wife thinks I'm going (more!) gaga.
Yes, parts are 'interesting' prices. Fortunately? the previous owner had damaged the glass key so mine came with a shiney new one - the small leather cover however..... eek

Congratulations that Volante looks lovely.

An indy I use told me that sometimes it surprises him how many cabin noises some people are not bothered about.

Convertibles are great because you can always drop the hood and listen to the exhaust note instead of cabin noises.

Sorry for the delay – I keep getting the message that posting is suspended for new members – Hopefully I’ll lose that status soon smile

Yes, I can forgive a lot of noises when the V12 soundtrack is playing but in this case it sounds like an angry parrot is trapped behind the dashboard and someone is playing maracas in the driver's door rolleyes Even my wife's Morgan doesn't sound like that eek

Yes, it came from AM Cheltenham and they have been really good and responsive so far so I'm sure they'll sort it out.
