Bit of a desperate plea on my behalf but desperate measures and all that.

Coming to the end of year 1 as a biker and loved it, but have only ridden solo. None of my mates ride, my old man is recovering from a broken hip and as such not riding, and so I'm left to do it all solo.

Been looking for others to ride with both to learn from better/more experienced riders, and for the social aspect. Have joined a few Facebook groups but these seem to be just a place to share memes and garage queen photos.

So where/how would people suggest to meet other riders? It shames me that it's not an organic/natural process and I didn't grow up with people who developed the same hobby but such is life.

Any help appreciated!

There is a big audience on here with potential to hook up with one or two.

Start with an idea on your general location and the bike that you are riding. Can be vague to avoid any chance of thieves etc.

Eg CB500 in North Lincs then I am sure a few will respond.

Similar position myself. My riding mates are work colleagues and are an hour away,so not convenient for the odd evening/spontaneous blast.
Joining the local IAM/ROSPA usually has a social side,if you want to go that route.
As said above, post your location and I’m sure you’ll get a response.
If you’re in Kent,I’ll be your friend for a small fee. 😁

Christ is that sinister biggrin

I'm Essex/Suffolk border so Kent isn't a million miles away, I'm sure there's a nice mid point cafe or something.

Currently on a Suzuki 600.

I passed my test at the beginning of the year and have since joined my local IAM group.

Thankfully it's not full of slow weirdos and has a very active social/group riding calendar with ride outs available every weekend. Has worked for me and I have definitely improved my riding as well. Win win.

I actually enjoy riding on my own but it is nice to have the option available when I want it.

Also, I have found a fair amount of local meetups and groups on Facebook. Worth a look to see what is around and then turn up to any meets and see what you think.

Most local bike shops have a regular ride out. Phone and ask, and/or peruse the website.

BMW Manchester, Hunts Honda Manchester, Ducati Manchester have them for instance etc.

If you are looking for bks out riding then you probably won't find them via any specific organised events - your local track has that...

We did an extremely successful trip to the Dolomites this year, which include a number of "first timers", some of which hang around on here. wavey

No quite the opposite, haven't got the skills/balls for that.

Check out the BB Sticky Wiki at the top.

Last update 2005 I expect! Still, a good idea.
