leathers/gear etc.
Discussion
Went an spent the afternoon in J&S in northwhich today trying various different brands of 2piece/1piece leathers and textiles etc on, to my surprise i found that BKS where a brilliant cut and fit true to their sizes - along with alpinestars and dianese (which you would expect at that pricepoint anyway).
I wondered if any of you guys had purchased BKS gear and what its longevity is like, do the zips bust, stitching hold out that sort of thing as im very close to pulling the trigger on one of their Evolution Pro leather top/bottoms 2 piece.

There's BKS made to measure in Exmouth and there's the retail brand BKS, part of the Frank Thomas Group which is owned by J&S, two different companies.
Surely that would cause problems commercially having the same name/branding etc?The BKS you buy in J&S is not hand made in UK, its more of a mainstream retail product at affordable price point.
This is BKS (made to measure) is here https://www.bksleather.co.uk/ its bespoke, like Hideout leathers.
I'm on my second set of BKS made-to measure 2 piece leathers. I bought the first set in '96 and then replaced them 20 years later. The first set still look great although a couple of zips had died and they appeared to have "shrunk" over the years as they were getting a little tight around the waist and arse!
The fact I paid the thick end of £2500 for a replacement set 20 years later pretty much says wat I think of them.
When it comes to fit and protection, they can't be beaten. They are a top quality product although you pay a top quality price. If you can afford them, and plan to be riding bikes for the next 20 years (and think you can roughly maintain your current body shape) then they really are the best.

The infamous 'BKS diet' The fact I paid the thick end of £2500 for a replacement set 20 years later pretty much says wat I think of them.

After spending a couple of grand on leathers you can't afford luxuries like food anyway and when the bank balance does finally recover enough to allow regular meals you daren't eat anything in case you gain weight.

Mine have had a couple if zips fail but the zip is a non BKS part and they're scuffed on the lower legs from my fixed rearsets.
Looked after with regular cleaning & feeding and they'll probably outlast me.
