Now either a diff, gearbox issue or a wheel bearing
Discussion
So having got my db9 going after the last thread ‘DB9 won’t start after main dealer service’... I drove it today and now has a droning coming from the rear. It’s very mechanical.
It’s there from 15mph and gets progressively louder as speed increases. I drove it back from the dealer a couple of weeks ago and the tried to start it. I’ve done the following things in between getting the car home and driving it...
1) I’ve manually put it in neutral using the park lock release under the rear seat.
2) I’ve changed (and changed back) the gearbox relay
3) I’ve fiddled with every relay on the car to try to get it to start.
4) I’ve done all sorts of electrical testing on it and now it’s driving.
I can’t see how any of these points relate to a diff drone / rear wheel bearing issue.
It’s not the brakes, I’ve had both wheels up. I changed the pads 80 miles ago anyway. It sounds like it’s at the very rear of the car and stays there even in neutral and travelling.
Any thoughts would be massively appreciated
I’m starting to think if the dealer drained the diff oil and forgot to refill it!!
Thanks in advance
Steve

Can't help with your current problem Steve but if I was you I'd dump the dealer and go here:- http://www.maidstonesportscars.co.uk/services/spor...
I was wondering if the parklock is just about engaging but I released it from the side of the gearbox. It doesn’t sound like a gearbox issue though.
When I was driving home from the dealers, it was absolutely lashing it down so could have soaked a bearing and now it’s got a bit rusty? God knows!!

I'm no expert, but was speaking to someone in the service department at McGurk last week re DB9's and he said that it's common to get a droning sound from the rear transaxle and that when they change the oil in any they put in some sort of additive that stops it. May or may not be related to your problem, either way I hope you manage to get it sorted.
That's exactly right, an additive is put in the rear diff when doing a rear diff oil change.
What exactly did they do at service??
If they didnt touch the rear diff then it could be rear wheel bearing
Personality I wouldnt go back there, Mcgurks is in my opinion the best place to go.
