For me, ideally

100 HP or more. Though can manage perfectly well with 50.
Fairly or completely upright seating position with plenty of legroom.
Shaft drive.
Some weather protection but not a huge fairing.

Perfect bike would be like a GS but without the off road capability and preferably a bit lighter.

exactly smile .....if you are limited to "just" one bike then your primary use will dictate what you buy e.g commuting, pillion use, touring

I can easily think of 1/2 dozen styles of bike I would like in the garage and will be expanding the fleet in future .

Fun. It's all about how the bike make you feel for me. I'm not bothered about power, speed, practicality, wind protection or anything else. My bike may or may not have any of the above...but it has to be fun.

2 wheels and a seat? :-)

Something with good handling, adequate power, nice looks. Preferably comfortable too, so you can ride say 2 hrs without being crippled.

This.

Trouble is though modern bikes are stupidly fast AND well behaved, so you just end up riding like a right tit - good fun though

Two wheels, engine, brakes, suspension the usual!
Seriously, at the moment, something that makes me smile when I ride, I like twins not fours, I like torque rather than revs. I like a naked bike rather than sports, but I like to be leaning forward not sit up and beg. Also I like motorbikes that look like what I think a motorbike should look like. To my mind a lot of Modern bikes look like they’ve been chucked together, pipes, and bits everywhere, it doesn’t matter if it’s all covered up with plastic!

However I ride for fun, if I wanted to tour, a Triumph Tiger, BMW GS/RS would fit the bill. if I wanted a commuter F800 or Honda 750? If wanted to be a a bit more of a hooligan than I am the Mt10 was great fun to ride.
Tomorrow you may get a different answer biggrin

I don't know, think i am easily pleased. I've had a sports bike, supermoto, and naked since passing and still not sure what I am after.

Primarily, something with a seat I can sit on rather than around. Some trail bike seats are a bit ‘penetrative’ for my tastes.

I like torque / low RPM, too - a lifetime of tractors, diesel 4x4s and very old cars will do that to you (although I have just bought a pair of 90’s Triumph triples - whoops).

Nothing that requires polishing. I simply do not have that chromosome that gives me the will go attack my pride and joy with a waxy toothbrush.

Three cylinders
Yellow
Single sided swing arm

On my next bike I'll be looking for shaft drive and a V4 engine.

A classic bike i can look at, do dry sunny miles on and take to classic bike meets. My RE5.

A super naked with silly bhp and monster mid-range power. Fairly comfortable with no clip-ons near the wheel spindle. Japanese reliability. My Suzuki B King which has a few very mild mods.

A really lightweight but very quick single, great in the turns and on the brakes but with enough power (72 bhp) to make the PTW ratio interesting. My KTM Duke 690R.

One bike is never going to happen as it would be too much of a compromise but if it REALLY had to happen, i'd stick with either of the last 2 and then change bikes twice a year. A 1050 Speed Triple would offer plenty of ticks in the boxes as would a BMW S1000 naked.

I've no idea, currently considering bike number 2 and I've ran the gamut from a monkey bike to an Africa twin with a cbr600rr, fireblade, Royal Enfield Conti GT, VFR, 999/749, Monster, Desert sled, Street/Speed/Twin/Triple amongst others. Currently thinking a Tracer 900 would fit the bill.

The number 1 answer in every womens' magazine on what they first look for in a man is a good sense of humour.
CRAP!
OK, so a sexy woman (say 10 years ago) goes to a night club looking for a bloke and there is Brad Pitt, not particularly known for his good sense of humour.

He's talking to Ken Dodd.......
