Serious problem, help perrrlease

No not me the but the PC :nuts: I allready new the first.

Wont start up this comes up.
this program/file is corrupted or has been deleted.

\windows\system32\configsystem

Said I can attempt repairs to this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd. select 'r' at first screen to start repair.


Of which i have put the Cd in and get nothing,tried safe mode and cant get it to start there either and reboot at an earlier time which hasnnt solved it either.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys, Have reloaded it but have lost everything... any way i can get it back??
It seems to have taken/imported all my old win98 stuff

can you not install XP on a new hard drive, then install the original hard drive as a slave and try to access the lost data that way? ie keep the operating system completely separate from the old drive you wish to interrogate? I'm assuming you don't want to interfere with the original drive any further as retrieving the lost data will presumably get more and more difficult as you write to it?
