Any websites; examples or good guides that I could visit?

I need to carry out an intray exercise at work and beyond common sense(!) I wondered if there was a acknowledged HR marked process that I should be following?

There are a lot of websites out there but, in my experience, the exercise scenario has to be relevant to your organisation for it to be of any real benefit. The last time i did one was about 6 years ago and it consisted of about 8-10 emails that I had to deal with in 30 minutes. In all cases there was some information which I needed to use in some way to respond. It was basically judging your decision-making skills under pressure.

There isn't an acknowledged marking process because there is no right or wrong answer. It's more to do with looking at your thought processes.

It’s common sense.

Is this for new hires or existing staff?

What competency/ies are you looking to confirm? This is key.

How long do you have?

Are you able to make adjustments if staff/candidates have any support requirements if less able?

Have you got a suitable location and enough resources (whatever is needed to conduct your exercise)?

Once you’ve identified that, just design it and work out your marking schedule. Make it easy to mark consistently in order to reduce your own burden and to allow comparisons between candidates.

Good luck!
