My son has foolishly bought some tickets over Gumtree, paid into a bank account and now hasn't received the tickets.

The seller is stringing him along, and coming up with excuses. The seller is from Brentwood, and we are 200 miles away.

Probably an expensive lesson for him, but anyone have any ideas?

Got an actual address? I'll bet he isn't even from there.

Call it a life lesson and move on.

Sadly I’d say you’re screwed. Have you phoned the buyer to try and weigh up how genuine (or not) he/she is?

Sadly he is now 200 notes lighter. He will never see any tickets either.

Any address you are given will likely be nonsense and in fact the seller is likely not even in the country. THey are making a fortune with this under multiple accounts and aliases. Your son is not the first today and won't be the last.

Sad really. Lesson learned.

Either pay using something you can get protection from or meet in person. Both have their challenges.
