Hi People,

The Audi A5 TDI or the BMW 335D.

I’m really stuck on which my next car should be out of these two hear in terms of which car would get the most out of modifications in terms of remapping because dependant of which car I get I want to remap it to at least stage 2. I’ve seen that stock the Audi A5 has a very good 0-60 clocking at 5.9 seconds but somehow the 335D is still faster when it clocks around 6.1 seconds which I was really confused about, but I’m more on the side of the Audi looks wise but in terms of modding and capabilities I’ve heard that the bmw 335D has a lot more potential. My friend had a bmw 335I which is running around 400 bhp and it really makes you fly back into the seat, I was also wondering if the 335D has around the same potential as that and my other friend has an Audi s3 2.0 tfsi which I know he’s going to be remapping it very soon and I heard they have a very good potential in terms of power wise. So out of these two cars I just wanted to know which car would be the faster one including remapping and other mods, as well as reliability because apparently the bmw isn’t as reliable as the Audi and other stuff if you guys can share that I have not mentioned.

Thank you very for the help

The cars will be as quick as you make them so base your decision on what car you like the best then do the mods you want to the car you liked the best.

School holidays are dreadful in PH land. It was ever thus.

If you are choosing a boring car based on 0-60 times you are beyond hope. The 0.2 seconds can be lost by someone with a heavy foot. Like you. Because you have all the finesse of a camel at a waltz. If finishing first is a priority then continue with your life as is. You don't need a mid range, mid sized saloon for that.

Choosing between a mid range BMW and an Audi is like picking what VD is your favourite. Everyone on the road will think you're a throbber whatever you choose. To make matters worse you will prove it by your driving style. Don't indicate, be brake heavy and think you have the fastest car on the road? Buy the Audi. Have a superiority complex, drive 2cm from the car in front, act like a sales rep done good? Buy the BMW. No one cares either way.

BTW - if you remap your loan car you invalidate the warranty and could be in trouble with the finance company.

Lol at the above. In general I'm too old for proper mods and fast an furious was over a decade ago, but on a bit diesel I'd always go for a remap.

Anyway, the extra bhp and torque you'll get from the remap and supporting mods will adjust (hopefully enhance) the driving experience but the base cars you list are very different so the driving experience will remain different.
The Audi's always feel (to me at least) a little numb and remove some of the driver involvement, BMW's aren't the driver's cars they used to be but are nicer to drive hard than the Audi.
Assuming the 335d is an x drive is go that, however if not then the Audi would be worth a 2nd look as the 4wd system will help alot with getting the power down off the line.
